Batch 19: The Pre-Prohibition Style Lager

Can you imaging life without beer? Of course not, why the hell would you? Thankfully for us, our interweb generation wasn’t around during Prohibition. But what did beer taste like before 1920? Funny you ask because Coors has just introduced Batch 19. It’s based on a 91-year-old, pre-Prohibition recipe (and named for the year 1919, before Prohibition began), delivers a “bold, hoppy flavor that is surprisingly well balanced.”

Now for the bad news. Batch 19 is currently only available on draft in select speakeasy and saloon style bars in Chicago, San Fransisco, San Jose, Washington, D.C. and Milwaukee. So if any of you luck bastards get to try it, let us know what you think.

Arkeg: The Arcade Kegerator

This arcade game-styled machine features a fully functioning kegerator in its belly, with room for a 5 gallon keg kept cool by a solid-state thermoelectric cooling system. I like beer. I like beer a lot in fact so I’m pretty exited about this. Just like the Heineken version Newcastle has now introduced the Newcastle DraughtKeg ($23). The pressurized mini-keg serves up 10 pints of draught beer, and will stay fresh for 30 days with on-tap tastiness. Who wants to buy me a beer?

Problem 1: You want to tour Amsterdam. Solution: Go on a guided tour.
Problem 2: You don’t want to be stuck in a boring car or bus all day. Solution: Ride a bike.

I’m sorry, the Beer Bike? Yes, you read us right. The bike holds between 10 and 22 people and almost 10,000 tourists attended the mobile party in 2009. Quoted in TIME is the founder of Beerbike.co.uk . “Riding a bike while having a beer is simply amazing,” (Ard) Karsten says as the Kiwis blast Eye of the Tiger from the karaoke machine. “It’s a new and unique way to see Amsterdam.”

That’s right, Kiwis listen to Survivor. FTW…TIME article further stokes the fire in the debate on who the better drivers are.
