We may not get a new Wii but we get a controller

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Well it doesn’t look like we’re going to get a new Wii for a while but we are going to get a new controller.  Japan has had the improved Wii Classic Controller Pro for a while now but we’re getting it in April.  The upgraded version looks like a cross between the old classic controller and a playstation Dual Shock controller.  It’s going ship with Monster Hunter Tri, but if you’re not into killing dragons, dinosaurs and sea creatures you can pick it up separately for $20.

Wiimote Meets Ghostbusters

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

It seems like everything gets modded these days but this one is awesome.  (Mainly because it’s Ghostbusters) Like this guy with his Star Trek Phase mod, an obviously obsessed Ghostbusters fan has created a Nintendo Wii Proton Pack that is a fully functional device that goes great with the Wii version of the Ghostbusters video game. For those those of you that don’t think much went into this here’s what it does other than playing the game:

The Blue Power Cell accurately reflects how much power you have left, and the Thrower has been designed to covertly hold both the Wiimote and the Nunchuk. Better still, the Wiimote’s internal speaker enables the pack to make true-to-film noises.

Arkeg: The Arcade Kegerator

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Beer and gaming go together like Mario and Luigi, and the Arkeg ($4,000) offers up plenty of both. This arcade game-styled machine features a fully functioning kegerator in its belly, with room for a 5 gallon keg kept cool by a solid-state thermoelectric cooling system. In addition, it sports a gaming-ready PC, pre-loaded with 69 games such as Asteroids, Mortal Kombat II, and 1942. Other features include a 24-inch LCD with protective overlay, an authentic backlit marquee, a 2.1 sound system with powered sub, two complete arcade controllers and a trackball mounted in a custom aluminum panel, a side-mounted tap with interchangeable handle, and more.

So in short this is a must have. No seriously, I need this… I think I’m going to start tagging things as wedding gift ideas.

Tony Hawk RIDE Rolls Into Stores

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

How the Tony Hawk video game franchise keeps chugging along is beyond me.  It’s kinda like those SAW movies that never seem to end.

We first heard about Tony Hawk RIDE back in May when they were showing off the “skateboard” controller for the 10th edition in the in the Tony Hawk family.  See it up there?  I really hope you don’t have to push the buttons while your playing cause that looks like it could suck.  The game hit shelves on Tuesday and is available for the PS3, 360 and the Wii.

If anyone has already grabbed it, let us know what you think. You can also check out the full press release here.
