So what is this thing?  It’s the Light Touch from Light Blue Optics and it uses a laser projector to turn any flat surface into an auto-focused and image-adjusted 10-inch touchscreen.  This is one of the coolest things I think that came out of CES this year, I just suck at posting things on time.

It has WVGA resolution thanks to its laser- (not LED) based pico projection engine dubbed HLP (holographic laser projection) and infrared touch-sensing system. Light Touch runs Adobe Flash Lite 3.1 and includes WiFi and Bluetooth radios, 2GB of on-board storage (with microSD slot for up to 32GB more), and a battery capable of about 2-hours worth of runtime.

This is one of the coolest DIY projects I’ve seen in a while, not to mention geekiest.  Jay “Scotty” Rob has made a 12x Star Trek Phaser.  I know that laser pointers are bad for your eyes but this one takes it too a whole new level.  I uses a Blu-ray laser to reek havoc on balloons and no telling what else.

This pair of smoke rescue apparatus look oddly similar to Darth Vader and C-3PO.  Word is that Lucas designers got their inspiration from these.  What do you think?

I know these are just concepts but think they are incredible.  The designers at MintPass have taken the Windows and Mac OS calculators off the screen and into your hand.  I think it would be awesome to have one of these.  I wonder if they have the error sounds too cause that would be awesome.

I was always more of a Nightcrawler and Wolverine fan since I am amazingly fast and have the very odd ability to heal myself ridiculously quickly but having any mutant power would be amazing.  Since we aren’t poised for a huge leap in our genetics for a while I’ll settle for science making up the ground in the meantine.  I can’t wait to see the follow up for this on how to make it so I can make one for myself, only more awesome.

This thing takes your sugar cream base, blasts it with liquid nitrogen, mixes it all together and pumps out custom ice cream. You can choose whatever flavor you want, obviously, and it’ll certainly impress your guests more than a pint of Ben and Jerry’s. Sure, it’s designed for restaurants, but there’s nothing stopping you from getting one. Other than the price tag, of course.
