A lot of people have wanted Flash 10.1 to come to Android and recently  this video surfaced showing off Adobe Flash 10.1 on a Nexus One.  Sure, the games and videos are going to be great which is what I’m looking forward to but what about – you guessed it – ads?  So what do you think about the ads?

Google’s Nexus One Now For Sale!

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Google launched the Nexus One site today.  You can currently  buy the phone  unlocked for $529 or setup for T-Mobile @ $179.  They also show Verizon and Vodafone set for Spring releases.  The site features a cool demo of the phone and shows some of the Android 2.1 (Eclair) features.

Check out the full specs and 3D Tour on the Google Nexus One site.

In the live press conference the Google team said they will also add other Android phones to their web store.  Interesting…  They also said in response to multi-touch, “They’ll consider it”

We’ll have updates from the press conference on our twitter feed. @freaknsweet.

There’s been a ridiculous amount of internet chatter about the Google Phone (Nexus One) since Friday night.  Instead of giving you a bunch of hype and such I thought I would wait a couple days until the rumors weren’t all over the place.  Well now that things are starting to calm down and become clear, here’s a list of what we know and what we don’t.  Read on to get the goods.

Will Android 2.1 Give The Market A New Look?

Monday, December 7th, 2009

With Android 2.1 hitting in a couple days Google has given another makeover to the official Android.com website. We have seen this site change quite a bit over the last year and it is normally preceded by an update to the Android operating system.  We also know Google recently updated their terms of service for the Android Market which are supposed to go in effect on December 11, 2009.

Here are some rumors we have been hearing for Dec. 11:

  • New Android Market with carrier billing support
  • Android 2.1 update for select devices
  • Over-the-air (OTA) updates for the Verizon Droid and Droid Eris
  • Desktop client for Android Market

Another device rumored for the Android 2.1 update is HTC’s Hero, though the fate of carrier devices, like the Sprint Hero, and if and when those devices will receive OS upgrades may be up to the individual carriers.

Is HTC bringing Android 2.1 to the Hero?

Monday, November 30th, 2009

hero-android21

After the Droid launched on Verizon running Android 2.0 we were all asking the question, “When will the Hero get the update?”  Well HTC promised us an Android 2.0-based firmware for the Hero line once it figured out the nitty gritty details of porting Sense to Googles latest code, leapfrogging Donut altogether — but now, it looks like theyre gonna do one better.

Screenshots found today show a Hero running Android 2.1, which would dovetail nicely with the fact that Google had teased a “minor update” to 2.0 before the end of 2009 back when it announced Eclair last month. The interface looks largely untouched from 1.5, proof that HTC was able to bring Sense up to speed with minimum drama; its unclear when thisll all be available, but considering that Sprints version just got a super-minor update, some carrier-branded versions could be in for a wait.
