Light Touch projector uses freakn’ laser beams!

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

So what is this thing?  It’s the Light Touch from Light Blue Optics and it uses a laser projector to turn any flat surface into an auto-focused and image-adjusted 10-inch touchscreen.  This is one of the coolest things I think that came out of CES this year, I just suck at posting things on time.

Check after the break for more info some in use pictures and a video, cause everybody likes videos. Read More

Microsoft’s Arc Keyboard. It’s sexy!

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

I haven’t bought a keyboard in a really long time but I might have to pick this one up from Best Buy.  They Arc Keyboard ($59.95) was announced by Microsoft at CES and is going to be exclusively at Best Buy (at least initially).  Like the Arc Mouse, this keyboard is slim and pretty stylish, and relatively light on any extra features, although you will get a 2.4GHz wireless receiver that can be tucked away in the keyboard, and at least a few extra function keys.

Don’t know about you but I’ll be looking for this one February 21st. (that’s when it come out)

Motorola Backflip: AT&T’s First Android Phone

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Here’s one of the new phones that was announced at CES.  It’s the Motorola Backflip($TBA; Q1 2010) will be the first Android phone released on AT&T.  One of the things that sets this apart is it’s sporting a unique reverse flip design and the MOTOBLUR content delivery service. The design lets the screen slide up for access to a hardware keyboard, or flip around to act as a video viewing stand. Features like a 3.1-inch touch screen, 5 megapixel camera, a GPS, and Bluetooth round out the experience.

Did anyone else catch my name on the promo shot?  So what if it’s a girls last name….

Glo is the coolest Bible [experience] ever

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

I don’t know about you but I really hate reading and growing up in church people always told me I needed to read the Bible more (were they saying I was a bad kid?).  Let me tell you if it was like this, I would have.  Glo ($90) is by far the greatest evolution of something being used for thousands of years.  We usually try and stay away from religion and politics here on Freakn’ Sweet but I thought this was such a cool approach using all kinds of interactive media that is was worth passing along.

Glo is an interactive Bible with a world of media, resources and tools to help you get closer to the Word of God.  The Bible comes to life through Glo, allowing you to experience and explore the biblical world in ways never before possible.

Unlike wading through pages of scripture, Glo is organized both by order of the big book or by geography through a topographical map. Fly overhead in a manner similar to Live Earth and zero in on biblical locations to see HD video and documentaries, 360 degree photo representations, and photos of works of art.

Learn more and check out the video after the break.  You can also buy Glo here. Read More

Red Green Blue…. and Yellow?

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

That’s what Sharp is saying.  At CES they introduced QuadPixel technology to the Aquos LCD panels.  So what is QuadPixel?  The non tech explination is that they have added “Y” to the standard RGB making four pixels in every picture element instead of three.

OK, so now that we’ve got four colors what does that give us?  How about 1 trillion colors.  Yeah, a trillion is what Sharp is saying.  Regular LCDs can render a billion colors so obviously there weren’t enough.

The highlight of Sharp's CES announcements was the introduction of QuadPixel tech

Sharp says QuadPixel TVs will ship in May this year. The LE 920 Series will be available in screen sizes measuring 52 ($3,300), 60 ($4,099) and 68 inches ($6,499).

Meet the Sony Dash: An alarm clock on steroids

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

It seems CES is all about tablets this year and here’s one that definitely caught my attention.  It’s the Dash Internet Viewer ($199) by Sony.  It’s a touchscreen WiFi device that you prop up like a digital photo frame. It’s pretty cool because it’s an alarm clock on steroids.  With a 7-inch touch screen you can access over 1,000 free Internet apps, including news, calendars, weather, sports, social networking and more.  The Dash utilizes an existing home wireless connection to continuously deliver Internet content to its viewers.  A negative that I see is that it doesn’t have an internal battery so that means it’s not portable.  Not a deal breaker but I think I would want to be able to move it around.

Plans are to have this little guy shipping in April so I’m going to add this to my wish list.

AT&T finally gets in the Android game

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

It’s been a big week for Android with the release of the new Nexus One and it just got a lot more interesting.  AT&T announced that it’s launching five new Android devices in the first half of 2010.  They will be devices from Motorola, Dell and HTC.  They say the Motorola phone is exclusive to them so that counts out Droid so it could be the new Backflip and Dell announced that the Mini 3 is coming to AT&T so we know that one.  So that leaves HTC.  Could they be some of the devices we saw in their leaked road map?  AT&T says they’ll have an “exclusive” device so I’m curious if it really will be or if it will just be something re-shelled like the Hero on Sprint.

So lets hear it AT&T peeps.  What do you think?

Check out the full press release after the break.
