A busy day for Google! Nexus S, Gingerbread SDK & Google Books

Monday, December 6th, 2010

Well Google went all out today… They announced the Nexus S, released the Gingerbread SDK and launched Google Books. I would say they’ve been busy.  So lets break this down.

The Nexus S has a lot of “firsts” going for it.  First phone to run Gingerbread (Android 2.3), first to have a 4″ Contoured Display, and support for Near Field Communication.  Some of the other highlights are an improved keyboard, VoIP/SIP support, Wi-Fi hotspots 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 16GB internal memory, a dedicated Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and a slew of other great stuff.

Check out the video and learn about the Gingerbread SDK and Google Books after the break. Read More

Google Voice FINALLY on iPhone and Palm… Kinda?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

First off, are you a Google Voice user?  Well if not you should check it out because it’s pretty sweet.  Second, Google Voice is now available for the iPhone and the Palm Pre and Pixi via a mobile web site.   Now we definitely would have preferred an app like you can get on an Android device but hey, this is better than nothing right?

I wonder what AT&T thinks about this?

Google launched the Nexus One site today.  You can currently  buy the phone  unlocked for $529 or setup for T-Mobile @ $179.  They also show Verizon and Vodafone set for Spring releases.  The site features a cool demo of the phone and shows some of the Android 2.1 (Eclair) features.

Check out the full specs and 3D Tour on the Google Nexus One site.

In the live press conference the Google team said they will also add other Android phones to their web store.  Interesting…  They also said in response to multi-touch, “They’ll consider it”

We’ll have updates from the press conference on our twitter feed. @freaknsweet.

Google Chrome Features in a “Blow your mind” video

First off I’ll start by saying that I’m a huge fan of Google Chrome.

Second, this video is incredible.  Not only does it blow my freakn’ mind, but it’s one of the best productions I’ve ever seen.  It was done by Google UK and there are no “special effect” or post production effects.  Everything was built by hand and shot live.

Whats that? Did you just call me a liar?  Fine… check out the Making of Chrome Features after the break. Read More
