2012 Ford Focus is kinda hot

Monday, January 25th, 2010

I know… I can’t believe I said that either.  I was never a fan of the Ford Focus but I definitely did a double take when I saw the 2012 Ford Focus ($TBA; Early 2011) .  This re-imagined descendant of Escort will boast an electric power assist system, Dynamic Cornering Control, the Sync connectivity package with an 8-inch MyFord touch-based control panel in pricier models, a new 2.0-liter DI Ti-VCT engine, and a dry-clutch six-speed Ford PowerShift automatic transmission.

If you feel the need for a hybrid don’t worry, Ford will also offer a fully battery powered electric version, with a driving range of 80-100 miles.

The Colorless Coke Can

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Though I’m a Dr. Pepper man myself, I’m still a fan off good design.  I’ve also always been a big supporter of “less is more” , not too mention green design and think this is a perfect example.  This is the Colorless Coke Can designed by Harc Lee. Below is a note from the designer.

A convex logo substitutes colorfully sprayed can. Naked can help to reduce air and water pollution occurred in its coloring process. It also reduces energy and effort to separate toxic color paint from aluminum in recycling process. Huge amount of energy and paint required to manufacture colored cans will be saved. Instead of toxic paint, manufacturers process aluminum with a pressing machine that indicates brand identity on surface.

Check out some more pictures after the break.

Boxed Water Is Better

A lot of companies are talking about “going green” these days, but here’s one that’s actually doing it.  Boxed Water Is Better discovered that it was actually kinder to the environment to box rather than bottle the water. Turning to the century old milk-style beverage container for inspiration, 90% of the boxes are made from renewable resources, shipped flat, and filled on-demand with great tasting water. And you can feel even better knowing that 20% of Boxed’s profits are spent on planting new trees and creating new forests. Plus, the black-text on white-background boxes will look cool in your fridge, like something out of the Dharma Project.
