FLUD: The one app to make me want an iPad

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

This is possibly the most amazing app I’ve ever seen.  I’m obviously a bit of a gadget junkie so you may be surprised that I wasn’t one of the people camping out for the iPad.  Well, I wasn’t.  I think it’s mainly because I’m an Android kid as opposed to an i(Insert Name) kid.

Alright, enough about me, lets talk about FLUD ($4).  So what is it?  It’s a news ecosystem for iPad that allows one place to read and share all of your favorite content.  Not to mention it has a kick ass UI.  Just grab those RSS feeds you can’t live without and sync them up.  You can scroll through articles in a very smooth manner, integrate with Google Reader and share through Facebook, Twitter and email.

Check out the video after the break and learn more about how Bobby Ghoshal, the developer and designer of this masterpiece, describes the project.  Also as a side note, according to their Twitter (@fludapp) page, they have an iPhone app in the works.

Give Your MacBook the All Natural Look

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Hippies and outdoors people will rejoice over this.  At least I know I will….  I’m a huge fan of using natural wood (first of all, wood) in design and the people at Karvt have definitely impressed me with these Wood MacBook Skins ($35).  You can get these 100% wood skins in a variety of  types such as Bamboo, Cherry, Maple, Pine or Walnut and since these are all natural each skins wood grain, patterns and knots will be unique.  They all look awesome but I think my favorite is the Chocolate Cherry.

While you’re busy drooling over the MacBook skins, be sure to check out Karvt’s wooden iPad skins too.

iPad: Will it Blend?

Monday, April 5th, 2010

I’m sure you’re probably getting tired of the iPad chatter all over the web.  I know I am, I usually get giddy for gadgets like this but I’m just not crazy about the iPad. I know that there are a lot of cool things about it, like the fact that it doesn’t have flash, but I don’t think I’m going to hop on this band wagon.  In the mean time, this is one of my favorite “shows”.  Will it Blend by Blendtec is known for destroying tons of new gadgets and now the iPad gets its turn.  Check out the video after the break.

Note: He did cheat a bit because he removed the metal back.  Oh… and does anyone think he kinda sounds like Grissom from CSI? Read More

Can’t wait for the iPad? Try the Notepod+

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Sure it may just look like a pad of paper with a black border and a grey dot where there would be a button, but the Notepod+ ($20) is way more than that.  It features zero bezel, infinite battery life and doubles as a mouse pad.  Basically its a GUI-sketching heaven for app developers
