Is it Incredible? Verizon thinks so.

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

I haven’t geeked out on a new phone in a while so I think we’re about due.  Now granted this isn’t the EVO but I think it’s up there.  It’s the new HTC Droid Incredible ($200) and it hits Verizon on the April 29th. (You can pre-order it now)  I instantly think this is leaps and bounds above the Motorola Droid if for no other reason than that it comes with the Sense UI.  This guy is taking some cues from the Nexus One as well, the Incredible offers a 3.7-inch, 480×800 AMOLED capacitive touch screen, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Android 2.1 with the HTC Sense UI, an optical joystick, an eight megapixel camera with dual LED flash, and the usual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

So is it incredible?  That’s for you to decide but I bet it’s better than your current phone.

Is Verizon getting the Nexus One on March 23rd?

Monday, March 1st, 2010

The rumor wheel is turning again for Google’s Nexus One.  The new report is that it’s headed to Big Red on March 23rd.  According to the guys at Neowin.net the Nexus One, originally released on T-Mobile in January, has passed FCC inspection for use on Verizon’s CDMA network.

The word on the street is that Verizon will introduce the Nexus One on the day the International CTIA wireless show begins in the US. It’s not yet clear if Verizon plans to hold a press conference at CTIA regarding the launch and we don’t know anything on pricing but we hear that it will be “competitive.”  Pretty much we don’t know anything but aren’t rumors great! Sprint Palm Pixi now $50

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

If you’re in the market for an upgrade now might be a good time.  Sprint has dropped the price of the original WiFi-less Palm Pixi to $49.99 (after $100 mail-in rebate and a new two-year contract)  This is probably because Verizon has the Pixi Plus with WiFi for $79.99.  Now I’m not a huge fan of the Pixi, mainly due to the screen size and the buttons but WebOS is pretty sweet.  It should be a good deal if you’re tying to jump into the smartphone market.  Now we’ll have to watch for a price drop on Sprint’s Palm Pre so that it can compete with the Pre Plus on Verizon.

Motorola Devour is headed to Verizon

Monday, February 8th, 2010

This is one I’m sorry I missed while I was out last week.  You may have already seen it but if not I think you’ll like it.  So what’s it?  It’s the Motorola Devour, a new Android smartphone that’s going to hit Verizon in March.  Like it’s Droid predecessor it’s got a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, aGPS and it comes with an 8GB SD card with support up to 32GB.  Now granted, it’s got a smaller screen than the Droid but it’s still pretty sweet.  Another nice thing about this phone is that it has MOTOBLUR, the first solution to sync contacts from work and personal e-mail services, including Gmail, with posts, messages, photos and more from popular sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter.

I’m pretty excited to see more on this phone, Megan Fox seems to like it too…  Check out the full press release here.

Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus have landed at Verizon Wireless

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

At CES we heard about the Palm Pre Plus and the Pixi Plus making there way to Verizon.  Well now Verizon customers can score the Palm Pre Plus for $149.99 after a $100 mail in rebate and a two year agreement and the Pixi Plus for $99 after a $100 mail in rebate and a two year agreement.  Anyone grabbing one of these?

Verizon Wireless cutting plan prices?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

New plans on the horizon for Verizon.  Get it?  Man I’m hilarious…

Anyway, there’s been a lot of buzz today about Big Red cutting their plan prices.  This is something that would put them a little more in line with other carries and their unlimited plans.  Boy Genius Report broke the story/rumor today highlighting a 30% drop in pricing on the unlimited minutes options for some of the plans.  Another big change is the data plans where among the changes they now have $29.99 unlimited data. (that’s included in the Sprint plans)  I guess there gearing up for more Android phones like the Nexus One.

The pictures after the break highlight the new plans and compare them to other carriers.  It still looks like Sprint has the best pricing.  How does this effect you? Read More

Palm Pre Plus & Pixi Plus Hit Verizon January 25th!

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

We heard a little buzz about this last week but Palm made it official today.  The Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus are hitting Verizon Wireless on January 25th.

The Palm Pre Plus is going to be twice the machine the Pre was.  No really, it’s going to have twice the memory of the original (up to 16GB).  It’s also going to come standard with the induction cover for Touchstone charging.  We also noticed that it doesn’t have the little button on the front anymore.  For the Pixi Plus the only change looks like the edition of WiFi but if you ask me that’s what was needed to make the Pixi worth anything anyways.

We still haven’t heard a price point but we’ll let you know once we do.  Check out the press release with full specs after the break. Read More

Google’s Nexus One Now For Sale!

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Google launched the Nexus One site today.  You can currently  buy the phone  unlocked for $529 or setup for T-Mobile @ $179.  They also show Verizon and Vodafone set for Spring releases.  The site features a cool demo of the phone and shows some of the Android 2.1 (Eclair) features.

Check out the full specs and 3D Tour on the Google Nexus One site.

In the live press conference the Google team said they will also add other Android phones to their web store.  Interesting…  They also said in response to multi-touch, “They’ll consider it”

We’ll have updates from the press conference on our twitter feed. @freaknsweet.
